The tape

Stocks finished mixed on Friday. The S&P 500 tracking ETF closed at $770.19, down 0.39%, while the Nasdaq-100 tracking ETF added 0.18% to $718.96. The 523 AI infrastructure stocks in our coverage universe did better: 362 advanced, 153 declined, and 8 finished flat, with an average move of +1.39%, putting the group roughly 1.78 percentage points ahead of the S&P 500 proxy. Silicon design led the segment board at +3.05%, while software & design was the weakest meaningful segment at -1.95%. BBCP (Concrete Pumping Holdings, Inc.) was the standout at +16.0%, and NLST (Netlist, Inc.) was the biggest decliner at -9.1%. ORCL (Oracle Corporation) is scheduled to report Thursday.

What reported

BBCP (Concrete Pumping Holdings, Inc.) reported fiscal third quarter 2026 results and initiated a quarterly dividend. The stock finished up 16.0%, the largest gainer in the AI infrastructure universe.

CIEN (Ciena Corporation) reported fiscal third quarter 2026 financial results in a press release and 8-K. Shares did not appear among the session’s top or bottom movers in our coverage group.

The positive stock reaction and dividend initiation around BBCP’s report may be a modest positive signal for non-residential construction activity, but concrete pumping has limited direct read-through to AI data center capital spending.
CIEN’s optical networking print is a useful directional indicator for optical component demand across data center interconnect and telecom networks. Companies such as COHR (Coherent Corp.) and LITE (Lumentum Holdings Inc.) could see related demand, though no direct supplier or customer relationship is confirmed here.
What's happening

FLEX (Flex Ltd.) said it will acquire EPC Power for $4.4 billion, adding power conversion capabilities for AI data centers and grid applications. The move expands Flex’s exposure to the data center power stack, where power conversion density and grid interconnection are becoming key constraints for large AI compute deployments.

CWK (Cushman & Wakefield plc) released its 2026 Data Center Development Cost Guide, citing a 21% rise in per-megawatt construction costs. The guide points to rising land, power, and mechanical/electrical costs as data center development scales globally.

CIFR (Cipher Mining Inc.) said its Cipher Digital unit is beginning development of lateral pipelines to facilitate data center expansion under a bring-your-own-generation model. The infrastructure would support direct power delivery to data center projects, reflecting growing use of on-site or dedicated generation for AI workloads.

Supply chain read-through · News
FLEX’s acquisition of EPC Power could intensify competition in data center power conversion and grid interface equipment. Electrical equipment providers such as ETN (Eaton Corporation plc) and ABB (ABB Ltd) may face a stronger integrated competitor, while power and cooling infrastructure vendors such as VRT (Vertiv Holdings Co.) could benefit from expanding supplier capacity in power conversion.
CWK’s reported 21% increase in per-megawatt construction costs could support revenue and pricing for data center mechanical and electrical contractors. Names such as EME (EMCOR Group, Inc.) and FIX (Comfort Systems USA, Inc.) may see larger project scopes, though no direct relationship from the guide is confirmed.
CIFR’s lateral pipeline development could point to incremental demand for power delivery and electrical infrastructure as more data centers locate next to dedicated generation. Power systems suppliers such as VRT and ETN may see follow-on equipment demand.
On watch

ORCL (Oracle Corporation) reports Thursday, September 10, with an EPS estimate of $1.74. Oracle Cloud Infrastructure is a major AI compute provider, and its capital spending commentary on data center capacity, GPU availability, and power procurement will be closely watched across the AI infrastructure supply chain.

ABM (ABM Industries Inc.) reports Tuesday, September 8, with an EPS estimate of $1.01. As a large integrated facility services provider, ABM’s commercial and technical solutions business can provide a read on data center and industrial facility operations demand.

OCC (Optical Cable Corporation) reports Wednesday, September 9, with an EPS estimate of $0.20. Optical cable demand is a direct input for AI data center interconnect and campus networks, making the print a small but relevant fiber-connectivity signal.

PPIH (Perma-Pipe International Holdings, Inc.) and CNM (Core & Main, Inc.) also report Wednesday, with EPS estimates of $0.55 and $0.919 respectively. Both companies touch piping and water distribution infrastructure that can support data center cooling and construction projects.
